Who We Are

ScamCheck+ ("ScamCheck+", "we", "us") is a fraud- and predator-detection app that protects seniors and families from scams, phishing, and online grooming. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect and how we use it.

Information We Collect

• Message content you paste, type, or screenshot into the Scan feature.
• A random per-device identifier used to link your scans, subscription tier, and pairing to your device (no account or email required).
• Optional profile info you provide: role (Elder or Guardian) and display name.
• Pairing codes you create or join to link with a family Guardian.
• Anonymous usage/error logs to keep the app running smoothly.

How We Use Your Information

• To analyze suspicious content and return a Guardian Score, verdict, and recommended action.
• To notify a paired family Guardian only when a message crosses the alert threshold you configured.
• To enforce subscription limits and process payments through Stripe (see Third-Party Services below).
• To improve detection accuracy — we may use aggregated, de-identified signals; we never sell your data.

Screenshot OCR

When you scan a screenshot, the image is sent to our secure AI provider (Anthropic Claude, via our infrastructure) only to extract the text visible in the image. The image is not stored after analysis. Only the extracted text and threat scores are retained.

Third-Party Services

We share the minimum data needed with the following providers:

• Anthropic (Claude AI) — for threat analysis and screenshot OCR.
• Stripe — for subscription payments. We never see your full card number.
• MongoDB Atlas — encrypted storage of scans, profiles, and pairings.

Family Pairing & Guardians

A paired Guardian can only see messages that ScamCheck+ has flagged at or above the threshold set on the pairing. Your normal, non-flagged messages are never visible to your Guardian. You can leave any pairing at any time from the Family tab.

Data Retention & Deletion

You can permanently delete all your data — scans, profile, subscription, and pairings — from the Admin tab (Reset). To request deletion of any specific data, contact us at the address below.

Children's Safety

ScamCheck+ includes a Child Grooming Pattern Detector designed to help parents and guardians identify predatory messages targeting minors. ScamCheck+ is intended for adult supervision. If you believe a minor is being targeted, use the CyberTipline reporting feature and contact the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC).

Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your data (including under GDPR and CCPA). To exercise these rights, contact us.
